We are Hestia. We make a difference.

At Hestia, we are guided by our core values and are dedicated to fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation. Our mission is to empower individuals to rebuild their lives and achieve independence. Right now, we are looking for a Step Down Support Worker to play a pivotal role in our Complex Needs Service in Kingston.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

We are seeking a proactive professional to deliver person-centred, recovery-focused support across multiple Kingston properties. The ideal candidate will assess referrals, develop SMART support and risk plans, and help service users sustain tenancies, avoid relapse, and build independence. Strong partnership working with external agencies and housing providers is essential, alongside experience in housing management, health access, and promoting social inclusion. The role requires excellent record-keeping, flexibility to meet service coverage needs, and a sound understanding of relevant legislation. You'll represent Hestia positively, support service development, and help service users progress in health, wellbeing, financial stability, and personal goals.

What do I need to bring with me?

You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. You don't have to tick all the boxes right away; the important thing is that you're willing to learn. We also value lived experience of the areas we support, so if you feel comfortable, please do mention this on your application.

Here's what the team will be looking for

You bring strong experience supporting individuals with diverse and often complex needs, helping them work towards their goals while managing associated risks. You have a proven track record of delivering high-quality, person-centred support services across a range of needs, promoting empowerment, wellbeing, and independence.

Your in-depth knowledge of welfare benefits, housing options, and statutory duties allows you to provide accurate advice and guidance to service users navigating complex systems. You also maintain a solid understanding of health and safety practices, particularly when working within clients' homes, ensuring both service user and worker safety at all times.

You are skilled in key working, support planning, and risk assessment, enabling you to develop structured, outcome-focused support plans that respond to individual aspirations and changing circumstances. Your understanding of mental health, substance misuse, and related challenges supports effective engagement with clients in a compassionate and solution-focused manner.

Collaborative and professional, you work effectively with external professionals and partner agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to care. You are confident using computer-based systems to record client interactions and maintain accurate records. Committed to continuous improvement, you actively engage in personal development and training, while maintaining a clear understanding of safeguarding principles and how to apply them in practice. Flexible and adaptable, you are willing to travel across the borough to provide accessible, high-quality support.

When will I be working?

You will be working Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:18
