Hello, my name is Charlene. My position at Hestia is currently as Team Leader, however my journey started when I came to Hestia as a Refuge worker 12 months ago. Within that time, I have had the opportunity to work with some of the most inspirational people.
Domestic abuse is a matter that falls close to my heart, and as a Refuge worker I was given the chance to support women and children through some of the hardest challenges of their lives. I have provided support to re-build families, and helped to shape their future - free of abuse.
After 10 months with Hestia, my new chapter began as Team leader and now, I am able to support and guide a team to provide a quality service to families experiencing trauma. This position has enabled me to help others reach their full potential, and have a shot at the same opportunities I have been offered.
Hestia opened my eyes to a whole array of possibility and new experiences which led me to be the best version of myself. Working in this field does not go without challenges, however I have overcome them with the support of the organisation and my colleagues. Hestia continuously changes lives and offers opportunities to individuals in the field of support, and I am grateful to be a part of that.
The goal for me was to manage a DA service one day, and Hestia made that dream come alive for me in so many ways. Furthermore, my experience at Hestia has helped me to identify my goals and aspirations for my future.
