The service you will work in….

To lead and develop the Grove Day Centre team to provide high quality day services, and to provide high quality support to an allocated group of service users. To carry out duties in line with organisational policies and procedures as well as design and deliver a high-quality programme of informal, friendly social activities and trips in co-production with carers.

A day in this role looks like….

As a Group Activities Co-Ordinator at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Mental Health and Complex Need services. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.

A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:

  • To be responsible for the support and well-being of a group of key service users allocated from across the team using holistic, person-centred support planning with SMART targets and the recovery star using the recovery approach to enable them to increase independence, maintain their accommodation and enjoy a
    good quality of life
  • To devise effective interventions for service users who are ‘hard to engage'.
  • To enable the service users to access medical services and the local community mainstream services
  • To ensure that allocated service users have a needs & risk assessment and SMART support plan; which are reviewed at agreed frequencies.
  • To minimise unplanned and emergency hospital admissions for mental health relapse.
  • To formulate, implement and review support plans with service users and associated professional participation
  • To liaise effectively with other agencies involved in the support of service users where appropriate.
  • To encourage users to have on-going engagement with existing networks including faith based groups and informal sources of support.
  • To provide information and advice on benefits, housing and welfare issues to service users
  • To facilitate self-management programmes
  • To line manage a team of Group Facilitators
  • To lead, develop and support the team
  • To effectively utilise student placements within the service including monitoring supervision and assessment requirements
  • To effectively utilise volunteers to enhance service delivery working closely with the volunteer coordinator to recruit, induct and supervise volunteers
  • To mentor an allocated number of Pool Workers

We are looking for candidates who bring a combination of passion, expertise, and dedication to the table. To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Experience of working with or supporting people with mental ill health and complex needs
  • Experience of providing high quality social care or day services; including compliance with health and safety
  • Previous experience of using computer based systems to accurately record work and client details
  • Ability to lead and manage a team including experience of recruitment, induction, supervision, motivation, appraisal, training, performance management
  • Ability & experience of performance monitoring to ensure consistently high service user standards
  • Ability and experience of managing a service within budget.
  • An understanding of the co-production model and the ability to embed it within service delivery
  • Excellent knowledge of, issues related to signs, symptoms and treatments of mental illness; ability to assess service users declining mental health and take appropriate action
  • Excellent knowledge of Housing, Community Care, Mental health, Health and Safety and welfare benefits legislation
  • Knowledge of methods of assessing, formulating, implementing, recording, reviewing and monitoring service user support and assessment plans
  • Good knowledge of MS Office and use computer systems to create accurate reports and able to assess and audit staff ability to use computer systems to record client data accurately and to a high standard
  • Ability to write & interpret complex reports with excellent level of spoken & written English
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately
