A day in this role looks like….

As a Head of Integrated Business Development at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Central Services Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.

A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:

To oversee all business development activity in line with strategic plans and create an operational plan for the work of the Business Development team.

  • To be responsible for delivering the financial target for successful bid submissions in line with the strategic plan to contribute to business development net new income and retention. These primarily relate to contracts with central government, local authorities, the NHS and grant proposals
  • Build a short/medium/long term pipeline of income opportunities which can, over time, diversify our income associated with our holistic support offer
  • To work with and advise Operational Directors on prioritising tenders, and business opportunities.
  • To manage the Business Development team to produce tenders of excellent quality, including writing, editing, quality checking and proofing tender copies to a very high standard
  • To ensure that all critical deadlines for bids are met.
  • To lead on the preparation of tender interviews, including ensuring presentations are devised and interview panels are fully prepared
  • To develop and maintain strong working relationships with Fundraising, Operations, HR and Head Office staff so the BD team works in co-ordination with the organisation
  • To work closely with the Data and Insight Team, ensuring that they have the correct processes in place to inform bids and implement new services
  • To ensure that Hestia's business development activities accurately and actively promote Hestia's brand and messaging, and integrates with Hestia's fundraising, policy and communications activities
  • Cultivate partnerships and maintain dialogue with relevant bodies and organisations, as agreed with the Senior Management Team, for the purpose of furthering organisational growth and identifying development opportunities.
  • Lead horizon and market scanning for gaps and opportunities to create new interventions to underpin the recovery of our service users and build a short/medium/long term pipeline of income opportunities
  • Keep abreast of all funding opportunities, analysing organisational fit and any development requirements
  • Provide strong leadership, management and performance monitoring of the Business Development Team.
  • Ensure the team keeps abreast of relevant new developments in social care, health, domestic abuse, mental health, employment, offender services and public sector commissioning.
  • Participate in the day-to-day work of the organisation – such as reporting, attending team, management meetings as required, and taking a flexible approach to general administrative and support tasks
  • To take on other reasonable tasks and functions as the role demands.
  • To deputise for the Director of IBDT from time to time
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks as may be required

A track record of developing new business from inception to delivery using a collaborative approach.

  • Experience of driving strong income growth via different channels including at least one of the following: local authorities, NHS Trusts, and/or grant giving institutions
  • Natural ability to create and nurture new, high-value strategic partnerships.
  • A proven strategic thinker, with the ability to develop and implement strategy and formulate operational plans including KPIs.
  • Strong influencing and communication skills (both written and spoken), comfortable operating in a range of environments and across levels of seniority.
  • Good commercial acumen with experience of setting and managing budgets and delivering against targets.
  • A broad understanding of the policy, operational and economic and financial environment for the charity sector.
  • Excellent team management skills and demonstrable experience. With the ability to build strong working relationship amongst direct line reports/wider team.
