At Hestia, we are guided by our core values and are dedicated to fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation. Our mission is to empower individuals to rebuild their lives and achieve independence. Right now, we are looking for a Pool Worker to play a pivotal role in our Mental Health Service in Islington.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

As a Pool Worker, you will provide compassionate, person-centred support to individuals experiencing distress, using excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trust and create a safe, welcoming environment. You will respond calmly and professionally to sensitive situations, applying crisis management and de-escalation techniques to support service users through challenging periods. The role involves facilitating engaging activities that promote wellbeing, inclusion, and positive outcomes, while ensuring individuals feel supported throughout their stay. You will maintain accurate records, respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, and balance support delivery with administrative responsibilities. Working independently and as part of a team, you will promote equality, diversity, and high-quality care for all service users.

What do I need to bring with me?

You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. You don't have to tick all the boxes right away; the important thing is that you're willing to learn. We also value lived experience of the areas we support, so if you feel comfortable, please do mention this on your application.

In this role, you will need strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships quickly with individuals experiencing distress, creating a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment. You will be a confident communicator with excellent telephone manner and the ability to remain calm, professional, and resilient during challenging situations. Experience in crisis management and de-escalation is essential, enabling you to support individuals through periods of high stress while promoting their wellbeing and safety. You should be skilled in facilitating engaging activities that encourage participation and relaxation, with knowledge of mental health and autism being advantageous. Above all, you will demonstrate compassion, empathy, patience, and a non-judgemental approach when supporting vulnerable individuals.
