The service you will work in….

Hestia's Mental Health Integrated Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) Team work within the NHS' Community Mental Health Team (CMHT within North London foundation Trust). We help people to connect with what is meaningful to them and provide therapeutic, trauma-informed support. We work closely with the clinical staff and community to improve access to mental health services, develop local resources, and address health inequalities. 

A day in this role looks like….

As a Service Manager at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Barnet Integrated Mental Health Voluntary & Community Sector (VCS) Team. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence. 

A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:

  • To lead the running and strategic development of the service under the direction of the Area Manager and Director of Complex Needs
  • To achieve the agreed standards of service delivery in line with clients' needs and aspirations as well as compliance with relevant legislation, external governance, contract requirements and Hestia/BEHMHT policies and procedures
  • With the Area Manager, to develop joint working and monitoring protocols with key stakeholders and partners for the Barnet VCS Service
  • To establish and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders
  • To strategically manage/review day to day service performance (6 teams) related to the contract requirements including delivery against KPIs, outcomes and user experience measures
  • To ensure timely and accurate submission of all internal and external reports detailing interim strategies to address any areas of underperformance in line with contract requirements
  • To be the point of contact for management feedback from Barnet Division senior management and other delivery Partners
  • To provide effective and inspiring leadership, management and support to Team Managers and client facing staff within the Barnet VCS Team.
  • To work with the Area Manager in planning, negotiating and managing the budgets for the Barnet VCS Service
  • To operate within Hestia's financial policies and procedures
  • To make best use of Hestia's property, equipment and Information Technology at all times
  • To define the relationship between service users and staff as one of mutuality and reciprocity, rather than of dependency
  • To lead/develop co-production projects with service users that can help participants to extend their social network, well-being and friendships and improve mental health, resilience and coping strategies and increase the range of opportunities open to them
  • Work with the Senior Management Team including the Area Manager and Regional Director to enable the organisation to develop its aims and objectives by participating in strategic planning and delivery processes to further organisational policy and practice development.
  • Be involved in central policy development, themed working groups and new business tender presentations as required.

We are looking for candidates who bring a combination of passion, expertise, and dedication to the table. To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Higher degree or 2 years' experience of managing people
  • 2-years' experience of working in mental health services
  • Experience of partnership work with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience of supporting service users or team/staff who work with people affected by mental health problems or other vulnerability
  • Experience of planning/delivering added value initiatives (events, groups, fundraising, volunteers, social work students)
  • Experience of timely submission of data reports, financial returns, other required submissions
  • Experience of working dynamically and under pressure
  • Strong communication and partnership building skills with statutory and voluntary/community sector partners
  • Confident in creating PowerPoint, Excel, Word documents
  • Strong skills of prioritising, delegating and time management
