Right now, we are looking for a Support Worker to play a pivotal role in our Complex Needs Service in Tower Hamlets.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

The main purpose of the role is to prepare individuals to move on to independent living in the community. Service users may step down from the intensive support service to high, medium or lower needs before moving into the community. From the outset of an individual's tenancy the focus of the support is on preparing them for their journey of recovery and independence over an agreed period. Our support service is provided 24 hours a day 365 days per year with tailored flexible support delivered in accordance with need.

You will aim to support service users in the following areas: improve their health and wellbeing, improve their quality of life, connecting with the community, have appropriate goals, and control in their life choices and achieve economic well-being.

You will ensure all support plans focus on areas where support is needed and promote positive risk taking. Service users will be offered a range of activities including cooking, art/poetry group, baking and opportunities to engage in voluntary and paid work. Each service user will have a move-on plan which is reviewed every 6 months with the resettlement team.

You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. Here's what the team will be looking for

Understanding of the principles of recovery as an ethos and a range of recovery approaches from working with individuals who have experienced mental health and/or dual diagnosis issues. You will bring knowledge of of relevant mental health legislation and of issues affecting those individuals with a range of mental health conditions including crisis management, how to communicate effectively with these individuals and how to support them with dignity and respect.
